It's hard to believe that in one month we will be celebrating Hank's 1st Birthday! Time really does fly! We're hosting a small get together to celebrate the big day, and even though we're keeping it small, it doesn't make the planning any less fun!
I've decided on a lobster/nautical theme. I'm not really sure how I came to decide on lobsters, but when I stumbled upon some great lobster blow-up rafts for the pool, it sealed the deal! So images of lobsters will adorn the invitations and the napkins, and of course there will be plenty of personalization celebrating Hank including custom napkins and monogrammed swizzle sticks. I'll bring in more color with navy and white cabana striped table runners, red striped paper straws, ginger jars, flowers and balloons. Cupcakes for guests and a little smash cake for Hank. I love the simplicity of this cake and how they spelled out "one" with candles. And we will have more fun celebrating "1" with these gold number balloons. Lobster gummies will serve as party favors for guests to take home!
The party planning is in full effect, stay tuned for the outcome!
The stud trend perpetuated by Valentino's signature bags and shoes seems to be sticking around. And I, for one, am certainly still loving it. The studs give just enough edge to such lady-like pieces. Oh what I would give for a studded crossbody or a pair of those t-strap pumps!
And there are lots of imitations out there, but I continue to be drawn to the replicas Michael Kors keeps putting out. While shopping this weekend, I noticed his boutique was filled with studded items, so much more than I could find online! Including a pair of t-strap pumps very similar to Valentino's look above...may have to pick those up for fall!
Hank's room got a new piece of art this week...a beautiful oil on canvas seaside painting framed in an antique gilt. And the best part, this was a Homegoods treasure! It even came complete with a Certificate of Authenticity. Homegoods Happy!
A dress designer we've always admired is Issa of London. This designer has perfected the kimono dress silhouette. Love their choices of vibrant silk fabrics, plunging neck line and both the short and long length.
This was a personal favorite on the runway this past spring! Adore!
While the dresses are perfection, the price tag, not so much...
Recently, while walking by a Banana Republic in NYC, I stopped dead in my tracks... A dress on the mannequin in the window was so reminiscent of the style I loved so much. When I walked in to further investigate, I discovered Issa had done a collaboration collection with Banana Republic! While not everything in the collection is my "cup of tea", the cut and print options of the kimono dress are fantastic!
In just over a month, Christin and I, along with our hubbies will be headed to one of my most favorite destinations...Napa Valley!
We can't wait to experience the lush, ripe vines of harvest season.
Lots of tastings of course!
Including a visit to the infamous Chateau Montelena.
A terrace lunch at Auberge du Soleil.
Trips to Dean & Deluca for picnic essentials.
And dinner here only for the best Crème de Tomate en Croute.
And so much more!
But let's be completely honest, it's not just the wine, food and to-die-for scenery that has us excited. Two words: sweater weather. We are so ready for a little escape from these 90+ degrees, 100% humidity days. And we think a trip to Napa Valley is just what the doctor ordered. Here's what we're excited to pack!
