Luxe Report: Wedding

As the final days before my wedding approached I felt confident that every detail was thoughtfully planned and ready for execution on our big day! I spent nearly a year deciding on the venue, hiring the band, picking the menu, choosing the flowers and designing the cake! But it was only a week before when I realized I hadn't even thought about a stand to display our beautiful wedding cake on! Oh, those little details that fall through the cracks!! There are some great options out there, like the more traditional silver cake stands, but I envisioned a simpler, sleeker, little more original look. I conjured up this idea of a lucite cake stand. Very simple...just two pieces of lucite stack together. I called a local resource and order a 16" square piece lucite and a 18" square piece, both 1" thick. Part of me doubted that this simple solution might not be as effective as I envisioned. But when I saw the final product on the day of our wedding, I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome! It far exceeded my expectations! Our delicious four tiered, butter cream frosted cake, adorned with fresh peonies looked perfect on top of the lucite creation! Sometimes the simplest things can make a huge statement!

April 21, 2012 was the day I married the love of my life and my best friend! What an incredible blessing to be surrounded by all our loved ones as we exchanged those sacred vows and continued the night in celebration!

Getting ready...

My mom, my bridesmaids and I got ready at The Omphoy, on the ocean in Palm Beach. We toasted and sipped on champagne as we got our hair and makeup done.

The Venue
Our wedding took place at the beautiful, grand Flagler Museum in Palm Beach, Florida.
Originally, our ceremony was to be held on the back terrace overlooking the intracoastal waterway...but due to weather, it had to be moved into the Pavilion. God answers prayer, and despite having to go with "Plan B", I think it all actually worked out for the best! Our cocktail hour, which was also suppose to be outside, was moved to the the Grand Hall and spilled out onto the beautiful marble front steps. And our reception took place in the West and Lake Room where we ate, toasted and danced all night long!

The Ceremony
Our wedding ceremony was one of the most magical and surreal experiences of my life! Not only was the setting breathtaking, but the overall feeling was so calming, romantic and special. Between the glass pavilion and water views, to the soothing acoustic music, to being surrounded by so many friends and family, it was definitely a highlight of my day. Looking at photos I'm reminded of that exact feeling I had as I walked down the aisle to my handsome husband to be...Overwhelming butterflies and complete elation! Exchanging our vows was the single most romantic thing I've experienced! There is something so special about exchanging words that our great great grandparents said. They are packed with so much meaning! And of course, nothing brought me more joy than to walk back down the aisle as man and wife!

The Reception

Planning this wedding was something I poured my heart and soul into. For 11 months I obsessed over every single detail! Being someone who gets so much enjoyment from entertaining and hosting dinners and parties, I knew this would be the biggest party I'd ever throw! Which is why every decision was extremely thought out and personally made. I had a vision, and it was so amazing to see it come to life! Being the bride, I knew I couldn't be hands on the day of...Thankfully I had my right hand woman and God Sent, Lynette of Lime Dezigns. Lynette and her fantastic team executed my vision completely beyond my expectations!! From the flowers, to the coral, the lanterns, linens and stemware...everything was just perfect for our dream wedding!
