Luxe Entertaining: Palm Beach Chic Baby Shower

This weekend Lauren and I had the pleasure of hosting a baby shower for one of our best friends, Carrie!  It was truly an honor to throw a luncheon in celebration of such an exciting time.  We are beyond thrilled for the expected baby girl!!
Living in a tropical paradise, we decided to take that lead and run with it.  Our inspiration was The Beverly Hills Hotel meets Old Palm Beach.

To start with, the invitations (and menus) were inspired by The Beverly Hills sign.  We also used the iconic palm leaf pattern as the base for our decor.  We layered soft pinks using, fresh flowers, extra large balloons, striped napkins and feathered flamingos that served both as place cards and favors!  All things girly...so fun!

Despite the heat (really?! it's Demember!) the day was a huge success.  The glowing mother-to-be was surrounded by lot's of family and friends who showered her with so much love and beautiful gifts!

Carrie and Mike, we are so excited for you as you begin your journey as a family.  We love you so much.  This baby is going to be one loved little girl!  Now, hurry up and get here! ;)

Luxe Decor: Banana Leaves

When you think of design elements that embody the classic styles of vacation destinations like Palm Beach or Palm Springs, a bold banana leaf print comes to mind.  Dating back to the 40's and 50's, perhaps most notably used in the Fountain Coffee Room of the swanky Beverly Hills Hotel, and by design icons like Dorothy Draper, the print has made a comeback in a big way.  And maybe it's because we live in Palm Beach, but we are dying to use it! I would love to add some throw pillows to my guest quarters decor, and Christin can't wait to paper a powder room.

The great thing about banana leaves is that they are a natural occurring element, so whether you use a print or the real thing, the outcome is just as chic! But beware, not all banana leaf prints are created equal!
