Luxe Decor & Fashion: Black & White

Ok, so despite our recent hankering to be wearing colorful resort wear, a trend that is sticking around for spring is the simple yet dramatic contrast of black and white.  We used a black and white striped fabric as inspiration for some entertaining, and Christin has made good use of the trend both in her sunroom and with her slipcovered console.  And the trend is everywhere in spring fashion.  It may not be the bold color palette of the tunics and caftans we've be eyeing, but paired with some gold jewelry, you can't go wrong with classic black and white!

Look For Less: Gold Bamboo Flatware

If you've been following our posts the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed our current love for black and white! Not a new concept...but lately we've been inspired with so many new applications.  I am eager and excited to use it in our pool cabana area of our new home.  But in the meantime we had so much fun incorporating it in our Stella & Dot trunk show and our Rapunzel's Closet window.  All this use of the bold combination got me thinking of what a fun tablescape it would make!  Since I now own the striped fabric I might as well use it!...Pair it with lots of accents of gold...my chargers, white dishes with gold rims, gilded coral candlesticks and shell accessories (and finally lots of sparkly crystal stemware and bunches and bunches of fresh white flowers) and you've got quite a dramatic, glamorous dinner table! As I brainstormed this vision in my head there was only one thing that was bothering me...the perfect touch to complete the look would be gold flatware, but I don't have any!  Out of curiosity, I googled "gold flatware" to see what I could find.  Low and behold, this beautiful set from Barney's!

While they are the perfect combination of gold and bamboo,  I cannot currently justify spending $125 per place setting.  With the move coming up and recently receiving plenty of gifts for our wedding (including my grandmother's beautiful silver and incredible Gucci (real) bamboo flatware!!) more forks and spoons is not a priority.  But as I continued on my google search I came across these:

Are these not the perfect Look for Less?!  I know I just explained how I did not NEED more flatware, but on sale for $39.95 for a 20 piece set, how could I possibly resist?  Now I can complete my vision for the bold black, white & gold tablescape!
Stayed tuned for dinner party pics when the table concept is brought to life!

Luxe Fashion & Entertaining: Stella & Dot Round 2

Last Wednesday we shared with you snapshots of a fab Stella & Dot trunk show we attended, along with our "Luxe Picks" from the great jewelry line.  We also announced we were going to be hosting a trunk show of our own.  Nothing like a little impromptu party!  Given that the soiree was on Friday and we didn't even decide to host it until Tuesday, it didn't leave us with much time for planning.  We quickly came up with a concept and scrambled to pull it together.  We decided on a simple black & white pallet with pops of gold.  Our intention was that it would complement the jewelry and yet not compete with it.  We incorporated our colors (or lack there of) using black and white striped table runners and lots of gold accessories as accents.
The Decor
St. Germain spritzers were served in glasses adorned with gold pompom swizzle sticks
A spread of salads, dips, caprese bites and of course, cupcakes!

Gold shells accented the black & white table and showcased some of our favorite pieces

We had a wonderful turnout and the evening was a great success!  A big thanks to Cheryl, our Stella & Dot rep, for making this whole evening happen!  And thank you to everyone who attended.  You are all really going to love your new Stella & Dot jewelry.
For those of you who couldn't make it, you can still order through our online trunk show here.  Enjoy shopping!
