The Look for Less: Diane von Furstenberg Fleurette Dress

Diane von Furstenberg is hands down one of our favorite designers.  Her silouettes are timeless, and usually we find the quality of the dress is well worth the price. Women are still wearing her iconic wrap dresses from the 1970's!
One of my favorite styles over the past few months has been the Fleurette dress. The lightweight chiffon and billowy style is perfect for South Florida.  In addition, the dress has served me well throughout most of my pregnancy!

But as always, who can resist a fabulous deal?! So we ask, can you tell which dress below is the DVF Fleurette and which one is the Look for Less? Neither could we.

The DVF Fleurette is on the left, and the gorgeous cobalt blue dress is the Ava Cocoon Dress by Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique.  And currently on sale for $49! We suggest everyone hurry up and order this great dress before it is sold out!

The Nursery Diaries Part Three: Oh How the Mood (Board) Changes

You might recall in The Nursery Diaries Part One I mentioned that I was having a conflict choosing the ultimate direction of the nursery.  Even though I'm not one for themes per se, my initial moodboard was a little all over the place:  Beach Theme? Safari Animals? Bohemian? I want it all!!!

Overall, my biggest source of design inspiration continues to be the natural surroundings here in South Florida.   This was confirmed the more I sought out inspiration for our nursery.  So some changes had to be made.  I said goodbye to the adorable safari babies that I thought I would hang over the crib, and will replace them with this Coney Island Beach Print that is full of the most beautiful turquoise and aqua colors.  This photograph will really bring that pop of color his room needs.  Plus, this is a print I purchased about a year ago, and had yet to frame it because I was unsure of where it would hang.  Bonus points for not needing to buy something new!

The Original

Take Two

We love the idea of the vintage sailfish over the sofa, but have also bounced around the idea of designing a surfboard that can be used as wall art now, and as his first board when he is ready to become a little sufer dude later on.  I think there is really something special about buying the first board he will use during his birth year, even if it won't be used for years to come.  It might just be the ultimate accessory for a South Florida, beach-themed nursery!

Where We Now Stand

So a beach direction we will go, using the colors of the ocean, a surf board, crabs and other tropical fish.  And because I can't completely commit to one theme, I have taken (yet) another cue from Rachel Zoe, and ordered this amazing giant stuffed giraffe to tower over the corner of our little man's room. For some bohemian flair, I've kept the Moroccan poufs (another great way to add color) and the lucky elephant garden stool, but may be incorporating elephants in a different way as I come across other good finds.  Remeber this great pair of ceramic elephants from our Palm Beach Regency post:
Wouldn't these make amazing bookends on the lucite shelves?!

Ok, so maybe I've still managed to have it all.  But I do think we have a better overall direction.  I have also swapped out the blanket, which I will tell you more about along with my fabric and bedding choices a little later on!

The Look For Less: Bamboo Dishes

Recently, I received several beautiful Juliska bamboo serving pieces as wedding gifts!
I opted to register just for the bamboo serving pieces as accents and mix it in with the classic white everyday dishware we also registered for.  Being someone who constantly wants to change it up, I wasn't able to fully commit to the entire bamboo set. It's no doubt gorgeous, but I hated the thought of having this large, expensive collection of dishware that I might grow tire of if used on a daily basis.  Averaging about $40 a piece for the dishware and almost $200 for some of the serving pieces, its definitely a commitment to make that splurge!

Low and behold this amazing alternative!!!
The Look For Less!

Each piece ranges from only $10-14! At that price, I would easily spring for the whole set!
The collection is not as extensive as the Julika, but for everyday dishes, what more do you need?!

They also have this great set of Bamboo Nesting Bowls!

What a great look! And such a great value!

Resort Chic: Echo

Over the years I've had several great beach coverups from Echo but it wasn't until recently I discovered their website! Stumbling upon it, I felt like I had found a hidden treasure!  How did I not know about this?! Not only are the fun, bright colors and prints so perfect for our Palm Beach wardrobe, but the prices are ridiculous (ridiculously good, that is!)! Nearly, everything on the site is less than $100!
I had to restrain myself from putting one of everything in my online shopping cart!

Their scarves are great! Very Hermes inspired, but a fraction on the price!
Any of them would be so chic as a head scarf or tied onto a handbag.

Their caftans, coverups and pareos are amazing!
Makes me want to book a vacation!

And the beach accessories are the cutest!

Can't wait to sport my new Echo purchases! Maybe over the Fourth of July weekend!!
