Today's Friday vignette features my collection of blue & white Chinese pottery...which always seems to make it's way to a new place in my home. The problem is, they look great everywhere!

Luxe Lifestyle: Favorite New Purchase (Gift): Blue & White Chinese Fishbowl Planter
This weeks "Favorite New Purchase" feature was actually a gift from my mom. When she was in town and scoping out the local thrift stores, she scored this Blue & White Chinese Fishbowl Planter! I've actually been on the hunt for one... You can find them online but the larger ones are usually a few hundred dollars. Always love a good thrift shop find!
Thanks Mom!!

Luxe Lifestyle: Favorite New Purchase: Blue & White Chinese Cachepot
Recently, I stumbled upon an estate sale while going for a morning walk with my cousin. While most of the house consisted of junk, I did walk out with one little treasure. (Actually, it was thanks to my cousin, as I had left my wallet at home. Thank you Kat!) Covered and hiding by overgrown and half dead ivy, we spotted thing great blue and white chinese fish bowl (or cachepot). Perfect for orchids! And for $30...major score! Looks the our blue and white pottery collections are ever growing.

Luxe Lifestyle: Favorite New Purchase: Blue & White Chinese Pottery
I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Easter!
For those of you who regularly follow the blog, you've probably noticed that we love blue and white chinese pottery. I inherited a pair of ginger jars years ago from my grandmother and have collected other pieces here and there, but recently I scored some great deals on Ebay. One bid I won 4 vases for $30! Score! A couple of weeks ago I featured blue glassware as my new favorite purchase, it which I paired with the blue & white pottery for a dinner party. Yesterday, I used the pottery again as the vessels for my floral arrangements and focal point for my Easter tablescape. This time, pairing them with a coral tablecloth and assorted pink, orange, coral and magenta flowers, it was the perfect setting for our springy Easter dinner party!

Luxe Decor: Blue & White Chinese Pottery
Well here's a design element that hasn't gotten old...blue and white Chinese pottery. We've already mentioned this topic in reference to Chinoiserie Chic, but it's really a category that stands on it's own. Ralph Lauren helped make this concept a huge design trend way back when and it seems to have stood the test of time. I'm not sick of it yet, are you?! Classically, it looks so great paired with bright whites and navy stripes. A chic look you really can't go wrong with! I've taken a different the direction with my house, but I still love the pottery, so I've learned to introduce it where it's a little less expected. The truth is, it's classic so it can really be mixed with any decor!

At one point most of the blue and white pottery was original antique or vintage pieces. This made it a little harder to come by, but currently there are some great (affordable!) options out there.

Luxe Decor: Chinoiserie Chic
Recently my sister-in-law accepted a new teaching position and will be moving to Japan in just two short months! As she delves into all things Japanese, it had me thinking about the overall inspiration of Asian culture. And in design, influences from Chinese culture continue to be a chic element of style. Chinoiserie references these elements as they are blended togther with Western design.
Anything pagoda shaped...mirrors, headboards and cabinets...continue to be major statement pieces. There are great, affordable chinoiserie fabrics to choose from for upholstery and throw pillows. And blue and white pottery is a classic element that transcends styles from the most traditional of homes to the coastal, beach cottage.

Luxe Picks for the Home
My neighbor has this reedition pagoda mirror and it looks so much like the (more expensive) vintage versions!
We've said it before, you can never have enough pillows! Such a great way to add a small touch of chinoiserie. I have the brown Robert Allen pillows in my guest room.
I would love to use this etagere in a bathroom for storage.
Love this tray for holding trinkets, or for use on a bar cart.
I am constantly looking to add to my collection of Chinese blue and white pottery.
Light up with candles for luxe outdoor entertaining.
Garden stools are another great outdoor accessory, or use a pair to fill the space under a console table.
